Thinking about the users

Students should now consider whom the users of the system are going to be?

Students should remember ... it won't be themselves! They are designing it for someone else ... the person who has the responsibility for keeping the financial, stock and sales records.

Students should tell us about them ... and what ICT skills are required to use the system ... and what they need the spreadsheet to actually do for them.

So students need to think about ease of use and what the final outcome will be. How will their new system be better than the current one?

Students should analyse the problems they have with the current system of record keeping and turn these into positives ... for example,an old system took may have taken up a lot of storage space ... so students could state that the company wants a new system to save on storage.

Now talk about solutions to solving the problem ...
